On January 17, 2007, my sisters, brother, and I saw my Mom for the last time. She battled bone cancer that resulted from breast cancer for almost two years. When she could no longer be treated, she received hospice care from her closest friends until the day she died on February 1, 2007. On June 1, 2007, we met my Mom's long-time friend Johnnie and drove to a remote spot in the Sierra Nevadas to spread her ashes as she had requested.
