At the beginning of the summer, Emma had a piano recital. She played some solo pieces and one duet with Mom. During the summer, Emma also celebrated her 6th birthday (alas, no pictures). At the end of the summer we had a visit from one of Michelle's high school friends who she reconnected with at the class reunion in July. Before the reunion, her friend Carla had planned a family vacation to Seattle, Olympic Peninsula, Vancouver Island, and San Juan Island. Since Carla's daughter, Chloe, is the same age as Emma, we convinced them to stay with us on Orcas for a night. We never met a girl more like Emma than Chloe! They read the same books, have similar interests, and both talk non-stop.
