Fifth Grade, 2012 - 2013 (33 images)

Emma (age 10) had fun playing on the beach and climbing trees in Discovery Park at the end of October. For Halloween, she dressed as a sophisticated cat. Despite the rain, almost 150 kids came to the door to trick-or-treat! Emma braved the Haunted Alley with Dad this year... they were chased by a guy with a chainsaw that had no teeth. No thanks!

In the spring, Emma climbed the Magnolia tree in our backyard to the very top and discovered that she could see the Space Needle (she took a picture)! Emma joined the Running Club at school this year and participated in three races in Seattle, the Jingle Bell 5K in December, the Top Pot Doughnut 5K in April, and the Race For the Cure 5K in June. She was also registered for the Seattle Marathon Kid's 5K in November, but she got sick and couldn't make that one.

During the Memorial Day weekend, Emma and Michelle visited Emma's former 2nd grade teacher (Ms. Hensley) who now lives in the historic Queen Anne High School condominiums (she previously lived on a houseboat on Lake Union!). She conveniently only has to walk across the street to teach at her new elementary school in Queen Anne!
